Introduction
This documentation describes the input data, the parameters and the internal processes.
All inputs and parameters are stored in .beast files, which are used to initialize the user interfaces of the ScenarioGenerator. In the case that scenario results have been saved, a .beast file also contains these results and is used to initialize the ResultsExplorer.
Data and process flow
The figure provides an overview of the data and process flow for one simulation period of the BEAST. By default, the BEAST runs over two simulation periods (2011-2030 and 2031-2050). The different sources of woody biomass are distinguished in the figure in three blocks: SRC/field crops (left), forest wood (center), and wood outside forests (right).
The simulation periods are processed always the same way. However, some parameter values of simulation, like prices and costs, are prolongued between two simulation periods. This process is described here.
